Welcome to Harrington's Upside Down Training!
Look, Eddie has had a crush on Steve Harrington for, like, four years. Steve Harrington is the only reason Eddie passed gym last year, because the grade was for participation and Eddie showed up every day that semester to watch Steve Harrington get all sweaty and all that glorious hair flop around. Eddie is but a man. Who is he to pass up another chance to watch Steve get all sweaty, perhaps shirtless this time? And maybe proving to his freshman pupils that Steve Harrington is truly an asshole would be the cherry on top.
Eddie is just here to ogle Steve Harrington and hopefully expose him as an asshole to his impressionable Hellfire freshmen. Things do not go according to plan.

Summary
Watching Steve sit alone that first day- even with his ex and her new squeeze crowding his table- former King of Hawkins High with his bruised up face and puppy dog eyes, and apparently, knight in shining armor tendencies, Eddie never stood a chance.
It's Jeff, in the end, that finally badgers Eddie enough to let Steve be dragged over to their table- into Hellfire, and Dungeons & Dragons, and hopefully right into Eddie's arms- after Steve intervenes to stop Jeff being harrassed in the halls.
Now Eddie just needs to figure out what he's going to do with all of it.
Aka a hellfire adopts Steve fic, because give the boy some friends (and a boyfriend).

15 days before Christmas, Steve Harrington flinches when the lights strung along the arcade flicker.
20 days after New Years, he almost takes Eddie's head off with a frying pan.
In-between, they start becoming friends.

Summary
Eddie knows he’s rambling, but once it’s out there, he can’t take it back. He’s freaking out about Steve, but it’s about everyone who came before him, too—about Maggy McInnis and her friends laughing at him in the hallway, every teacher who wrote him off for not being able to sit still and turn in his homework, and every friend who got sick of him for not listening and showing up late.
Steve hasn’t had a chance to get close to Eddie, and Eddie doesn’t want to run that risk. If Steve gets too close to him, he’ll see that Eddie’s brain is all scrambled up, and he won’t want him anymore. Eddie likes Steve right where he is, and he doesn’t want to lose that by being too much.
And Eddie is always too much.
