Summary
NB: I have crossposted this story to Royalroad under the title System Override.
A forced experimental drug treatment at an early age has saddled David with an immense burden.
His mother’s insistence on his current lifepath as a corpo has done much the same.
David is a speeding ball of fire hurtling towards an unknown destination, and his mother’s death has left him adrift and unsure of his direction.
So he does what any teenager with no more fucks left to give does—he chips in some mil-spec chrome and looks for a quick way to earn edds, all the while learning to utilize the nanotechnology that had been forced on him as a child—finding out the immense potential within him as a result.
Corpo or Edgerunner? Why not both? And why not the best of both while we’re fucking at it?

Summary
The Empire stands victorious over Europe. A power without peer, an undisputed hegemon the powers that sought to defeat it so aggressively feared. Although the Empire goes unrivaled, it does not go unchallenged. To the east, the defeated Russy Federation struggles under an unstable democracy where one wrong move could send the whole structure crumbling. To the north, nationalist remnants of Legadonia seek to reunify their state and reclaim their lost honor. To the west, the crumbling governments of the Republic and Commonwealth have fallen, fleeing to their overseas colonies as new socialist governments form under the new guise of 'Syndicalism.' Overseas, the once neutral Unified States starts crumbling from the inside out. All the while, the Empire, seizing upon the collapse of their foes, has become dangerously overstretched, even despite the warnings of some of their top commanders.
As for Tanya von Degurechaff, she has achieved what she wanted. A safe and stable career in the military high command. But as the world steers ever closer to yet another Weltkrieg, she must still fight hard to make sure the Empire, and by proxy her future, remain intact by the end of it.
