Summary
Mike Wheeler had always been pretty certain about most things in his life. He had been certain about his decision to go to the University of California so he could study literature. He had been certain about sharing a dorm with Lucas, while Dustin and Will shared another dorm down the hall. He had also been very certain the mutual break-up between him and El was for the best. He had even started being certain he had never actually been romantically interested in her. And right now, he was 100% certain he was going to jail tonight, because certainly, when your best friend is talking about the fact that Brandon from his digital media design class asked him out on a coffee date, your first instinct is to find this Brandon and strangle him. That’s normal right? To want to protect your best friend from … Brandon…?
Or: The one where Will goes on a date, Mike gets jealous and realises he’s in love with Will.

Summary
The terrible, awful thing about finally getting what he wanted — namely, Mike — is that now he wants more, the selfish creature that he is. When he was younger, he’d been able to convince himself that kissing Mike, just once, would be enough to last him a lifetime. Foolishly, he’d thought that he could relish that single kiss and live a peaceful life, one where Mike was still his friend and nothing changed but his feelings would dissipate.
Instead, they grew; they’re still growing, Will fears, growing bigger and bigger each time Mike and him get together, because every sound Mike makes when Will kisses him makes Will want to find ten more little gasps and whines and groans, and each time Mike twists their fingers together and pants against his skin Will thinks about how much better it is than the time before.
will and mike are - something, and will's not entirely sure what. whatever they are, he wants more, but he's not sure if he can have it.

Mike sighs, looking down at his hands. "I always thought I would end up with someone more similar to me, you know? Someone I can talk about, like, hobbies and music and stuff with, without them visibly losing interest halfway through.”
You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.
Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right?

Summary
Will’s eyes are still fixed on the broken bulb. Mike senses his apprehension, and he pokes a finger to Will’s cheek. “Come on,” he drones, turning Will’s head to face him, “it’s cute!”
“It’s embarrassing,” Will groans, head plunging to Mike’s shoulder.
And — okay. Maybe it’s a little embarrassing, sure, having to explain to the Melvald’s guy why he needs a new light bulb every two and a half weeks, but Will Byers, Mike’s boyfriend — Mike’s boyfriend! — has superpowers, and that's a marvel in and of itself.
Mike never thought that dating Will Byers would result in this many blown fuses.

“Are you ok?” Mike asked, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. Will watched for a moment, studying the features of Mike’s face, the curve of his nose, the crease in his brow, and worried eyes that made his palms sweaty with anticipation.
A tragic feeling settled in his chest like a bad cold, an unrequited spark. It made it all too clear that his soul was the only one that burned in this room.
Was he ok? That was a really loaded question. Physically, yes, Will was perfectly fine. But emotionally, he felt like he was barely keeping himself together. He had spent the better half of the past week breaking apart and reconstructing the subconscious puzzle of his internal consciousness. Pulling a part thoughts of his best friend, which went against his better judgment. This marked a new start; this was after California. Will knew he had to leave these feelings, his feelings, that incessantly loomed over him behind, but some things are just not that simple.
(Will is in love with Mike Wheeler. He winds up getting injured in a fight with jocks, Mike fixes him up in the nurse's office, and the rest is history.)
