Summary
The Makoto Haru remembers would have run up and pulled him into a hug by now, but this one stands his ground. The smile is real though, and unflinching. Haru lets himself be satisfied with that.

Summary
Adora dances through the strands of time programmed into the system. The first week, she jumps forward just a year or two — 2042, 2043, just before the breakup, back when they were still happy. In 2051, she sports the short, choppy haircut that was popular at the time. In 2066, it’s long, and dyed at the tips. She’s twenty two, over and over and over again, each weekend spent experiencing that age right on the cusp of adulthood as she weaves in and out of time periods, searching for Catra.
In the summer of 2044, she wanders past a sports bar and sees her own face, sweaty and breathless in an interview. Adora remembers this video — it was taken just before she received her first Olympic gold.
Adora keeps walking. There’s no way Catra would choose to be here.
________Adora has never had much interest in the Etheria program, a virtual reality simulation in which those on the verge of death and dementia can relive their glory days, dancing side by side with the consciousnesses of the deceased — but when she runs into a familiar face while visiting a dearly departed friend, she finds herself tumbling back into a romance she thought she had lost decades ago.

Summary
Catra had never hated anyone more in her life, not even herself. She was sure that she had somehow died and been sent to Hell, forced to stare at the grown-up version of her childhood best friend on a dating app she only ever used for the brief validation of matching with pretty girls instead of actually talking to them. Maybe matching with Adora was punishment for just that.
