Summary
It had been 18 months since Hawkins’ ground had erupted like a curse straight out of hell. 18 months since Max had been in a coma, 18 months since Vecna had gone into hiding, and 18 months since Will truly realized that he had feelings for his best friend, Mike Wheeler. 18 months during which he had to hide his feelings, and with every passing month, this game of concealment grew harder and harder, until it felt as if his heart might burst. On top of that, his feelings weren’t as inconspicuous as he had initially thought. Some people had caught on, and Will knew that if anyone were to find out, it couldn’t be Mike because that would mean the end of their friendship. And that could not happen under any circumstances.
When, after 18 months, something finally happened in the fight against Vecna, Will thought it was the perfect distraction, a way to forget Mike for just that moment. What he hadn’t expected, however, was that Vecna’s shadow would make the light between them burn hotter than ever before.

And Will is much more angry now, because how dare Vecna do this to him? What did Will ever do to deserve this? He used to be happy, playing D&D in Mike’s basement and watching scary movies at night with the whole group, wrapped tightly in their blankets and now they haven’t been in his basement in forever and the flicker of lights is enough to make him shake.

I am incredibly unhappy with how season 5 volume 2 has gone and to try and comfort myself (and hopefully you) I've written how I imagine the perfect finale would be because I'm experiencing some Byler doubt. Also I have no predications for how they are going to defeat Vecna so I'm just skipping that out!!
Okay everyone I wrote this before the last episode and some of it is scarily true but i hope you can read this and pretend it happened instead of the finale.

(STRANGER THINGS 5 VOL. 2 SPOILERS)
A one-shot scenario created post-ST5 vol. 2 on a potential in vol. 3. Close to the group beginning their operation to kill Vecna and bring down the Upside Down and Abyss with him, this gives a bitter-sweet moment between Mike Wheeler and Will Byers. It takes place in the Upside Down, where Mike and Lucas will place the bomb to disturb the exotic matter on top of Hawkin's Lab, and those with powers are aiming to attack Vecna via meditation downstairs.
