Stede could hardly believe what he was seeing, uncertain if he was still hallucinating after having been stabbed and hanged. This devastatingly handsome, leather-clad avenging angel who had defeated the Spanish and had apparently sat vigil at his bedside was… well, he was fingering the cashmere shawl draped over his sofa.

Summary
After a messy divorce that leaves Stede in a bad financial situation, he gets caught up with the wrong people. When they come to collect their money, he has nowhere to turn. So when he finds himself in a dingy bar near the coast, running on his last bit of money, the last thing he expects is for some stranger to take an interest in him and his situation. He's even more baffled when this strange man, who says his name is Ed, tells him he'll fix the whole situation for him. All Stede has to do is come work for him for a year.
Edward is bored. Bored with the business, bored with the people around him, bored with life. Who knew being the leader of the largest crime organization in the country would be so fucking dull? He'd begun to think there really was nothing more to life, until a fascinating blonde stranger blew into town. Stede Bonnet is new and interesting, but Ed isn't worried. How much can one man shake up his life?
