Le monde était sauf, et les Promare également, chez eux ; ne restait plus désormais qu’un vide rempli de ténèbres en place du cœur des Burnish, où l’hiver était roi. Lio Fotia l’avait remarqué, là où le froid mordait – partout – les blessures ne guérissaient pas. Peut-être ne manquait-il qu’une étincelle pour faire fondre la glace, et Galo Thymos, le cœur en ébullition porté en bandoulière, ne dirait sûrement pas le contraire.

Les médecins ont bien souvent les mains froides, et le cœur de Trafalgar Law l’avait jadis été davantage ; à l’exception notable de son équipage (ou plutôt, sa famille) le Chirurgien de la Mort prenait garde à ne pas s’attarder – sur le souffle précipité d’un cœur, ou encore le tracé sinueux des veines et des artères – outre mesure, toujours si près, et pourtant si loin. Au détour d’une rencontre – en la présence de Luffy au Chapeau de Paille – Law trébucha pourtant ; et un étau (vieux de treize longues, très longues années) fut brisé sans aucun espoir de consolidation.

Trafalgar Law had been a pirate for so long that he struggled to remember his former life (and his parents, and Lami). Whether fate was involved or not, his meeting with Bepo - and, by extension, those brats Shachi and Penguin - changed everything for the better (and sometimes for the worse). For sure, the Polar Tang went on great adventures, and more were waiting.

Trafalgar Law didn’t sleep much, if at all. On the Thousand Sunny, coffee – pitch black, no sugar, awfully strong – always waited for him in the kitchen, early in the morning. Strawhat Luffy found it way too bitter for his liking and wouldn’t stop complaining to whoever was listening (or not listening, anyway).

Trafalgar Law was a ship’s doctor, and as such was no stranger to injuries of all kinds – from the usual scrapes to emergency amputation, including wide open fractures – and the many ways to treat them. Some of Strawhat Luffy's wounds had been deep, while others – abysmal – never really healed. The Surgeon of Death, however, got to know them, recognize them, and, one by one, tend to them.
(or, the four times Trafalgar Law tended to Luffy's injuries before his hands would stop trembling altogether)
