Kojiro watched the gears shift in Kaoru’s head in real time. “Are you afraid you’ll lose against a convalescent?” He narrowed his eyes—a challenge.
“Don’t…” Kojiro sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Don’t do that.”
“Well, are you?”

While he’s recovering from Adam’s attack, Kaoru challenges Kojiro to a race. The idea of racing against Kaoru so soon after the events of e9 shakes loose a lot of buried memories in Kojiro’s brain, leaving him feeling ill-equipped to handle things he would ordinarily weather with ease. She has become familiar with his…contentious relationship with Joe, the owner, and over time, she’s grown quite fond of him. He’s not very amiable, and always painfully formal, but that only endears him to her more. When Nanako stops by Sakurayashiki’s hospital room to check his vitals after he’s been injured, she sees a side of him that is rarely ever seen.
