Summary
"You really can’t see yourself at all?”
Mike shrugs, like: what can you do about it.
“It’s fine,” he says, with a toothy grin that reveals his fangs. He’s so focused on making the crease between Will’s eyebrows disappear that he doesn’t even stop to consider the words that are leaving his mouth. “As long as I can still see your face,” he says. “I'll be alright.”
It's hard to face your feelings when you can’t even see your own reflection. Mike tries to be brave about it.

Summary
“Any other spells you’d like to try out, sorcerer?”
The light reflected on Mike’s face blinks like a message in secret code, spelling out all of Will’s thoughts. Except maybe it’s not just a reflection, after all. Because, there: a signal, as unmistakable as a lightning flash; a record scratch; a beat that breaks the repetition to establish a rhythm. Mike’s eyes fall to his lips, and all the rest of the world is static.
“Not just now,” Will says, before pretending to think it over. “But there are a couple of tricks.”
Will puts his new powers to use, and Mike finally gets with the program.

Summary
For one amber moment, Merlin forgets that he carries all the wonders of the world on his back. His shoulders slacken at the sight of something as weightless as a beam of light, and the atlas tilts ever so slightly out of its orbit. He realises then, with great urgency, how rare and precious it is to be safe, and to be bored, and to have indoor plumbing– which is at the moment unrelated, but always worth mentioning.
Slightly mad with the sudden rush of joy, he feels so acutely aware of the life inside his body that he doesn't know what to do with it next. He asks the Universe, but it doesn't answer, that wanker. It never does.
Arthur returns. This solves the oldest of Merlin's problems, but simultaneously creates a lot of new ones.

Summary
“Well, I don't know,” Mike says. This is exactly what he had practised in the mirror earlier– except now he has to say it with the sudden certainty that this is all a very bad idea. “I guess I thought that a kiss would be a good bucket list item, or whatever."
Will looks at him for a few seconds. His gaze is calculating, and almost curious. But then he just shakes his head dismissively, and looks away.
“Yeah, I guess,” he agrees. “It’s not like there’s anyone to kiss here, though."
Mike almost laughs at that. Yeah, right.
He knows of at least two other people who would be down to kiss Will, if he asked them to. He selfishly keeps this to himself- because he doesn’t want Will to kiss anybody else, and because he doesn’t want to explain why, exactly, he has been keeping such close track of his best friend's romantic prospects.
“I mean,” he says instead, with a shrug. “I’m here."
It's the end of the world. Mike thinks that he and Will should kiss about it.

Summary
“I don’t think that it has to mean that you’re into guys,” Lucas says. His words are accompanied by a casual shrug, and said in the tone of someone who has clearly already given this subject some thought. Will doesn’t know what to do with that information. Jump from a building, maybe. “I mean, we’d all get flustered if Spider-Man carried us in his arms.”
Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”
Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.
“...Would we?”
“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”
Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.
In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.

Summary
Mike can hear the smile in Will's voice when he picks up, and it’s startling how easily he can imagine it.Will, leaning against the wall of his new house. Probably wearing bright colours and flip flops- or whatever it is that Max keeps assuring him everyone in California wears. He knows the exact angles at which Will’s smile tilts, different depending on whether he’s teasing or just excited.
Closing his eyes, Mike tries to remember the angle of El’s smile.
He can't. It troubles him enough to ruin everything.
“Is El there?” he asks. When Will responds, there is no longer a smile in his voice.
Only a couple of Mike's calls to Lenora actually go through, and he never says quite what he means.
Until he does.
