"Oh no," he says, instinctively rushing towards Keefe. He grabs Keefe's arm, and for once, he's not hyperanalyzing how easily his fingers curve around it. "Are you okay? Did the glass cut you?"
"Fuck," Keefe says, sounding dazed.

For seven months Dex Dizznee has been crushing on Fitz Vacker, and on the third month Biana Vacker found out - which Dex was completely confused by because he thought that he had been hiding his crush well. Being the amazing friend she is, she kept Dex's secret. But when Dex and his friends have to go into hiding, Biana makes the mistake of saying she loves Dex (In a COMPLETELY platonic way) and not wanting anyone to find out about his hopeless crush on Fitz, Dex tells them that he and Biana are a couple.
But it does him no good because he now has to share a room with Fitz Vacker for an entire week and there is simply nowhere to run to since they are literally trapped underground. So, being the complete awkward mess that he is, Dex fumbles for his words. When Keefe finds out about Dex's crush, things only get worse.

Keefe Sencen was five years old and he still was too young to understand much of the things going on around him.
He didn’t understand why his mother had retreated to her quarters, only to be seen at mealtimes, or why his sisters stopped their worried whispering whenever he entered the room. In three months, his mother would disappear into the night, and Keefe would watch her go, believing her lie that she was simply going to the market.
Over and over he would run that night over, wishing he could change the past. The more cynical side of him knew wishes didn’t exist. Because if magic and wishes did exist, then there was a chance for something to save him. To make his life better. And he knew better than to hope that.

Summary
After everything that has happened, Fitz wants nothing more than for his friends and especially his sister to be happy.
One day, Biana comes to Fitz talking about a crush of hers. She tells him that her crush is the one and only, Dex Dizznee. Fitz may have had doubts about her affections if he were thirteen, but years have passed, and the odd rivalry between him and Dex has faded, so he doesn't have much of a reason to not like Dex. She asks him if she could help him, and who is Fitz to say no?
He ends up becoming her wingman, promising her to discover little things about Dex to tell her so she has more information on him (sometimes he learns unintentionally). It's not a hard thing to do, considering Dex is already enamored (or is he?) with Biana; it shouldn't be too long until they get together. As of now, Fitz thinks he's doing a marvelous job!
That is until … he promptly falls in love with Dex Dizznee himself.

There are three distinct stages of thunderstorms.
The first is calm, wind sweeping past your ears and clouds hanging low overhead. The rain is almost there, but not quite; it’s something in the air, untouchable but oncoming.
The second is a deluge, rain thunking against the glass windows and sinking into the ground. It’s heavy and the sky is dark, but there’s something utterly refreshing about the water sliding down your face. You can’t hide from the rain.
The last is silence, the scent of damp leaves and dirt filling the air. The sun peeks through the clouds, light filling the area. People are quiet, content, as life starts again.

“Tell me to back up, then.” David can feel Exer’s breath on his skin, just inches away. Their mouths aching for each other.

It was something David said to Exer months ago, back when he was still hiding and afraid of his feelings. Afraid that some amount of his feelings had bled out in those words, and worrying about it for countless, sleepless nights. Something he could say so carefree right here in this moment, but would’ve killed him to say back then.
