Summary
There's an owl. It's not a cat-owl or a badger-owl or even an owl-deer. It's an owl, it's huge, and it's not pleased to see them.
"Humans. What are you doing in my library?"
Zhao bows deeply to it. "Honoured spirit, I am a humble seeker of knowledge. I had heard of the wonders of your library and wished to see it for myself."
What follows is the most nauseating combination of flattery and lies Zuko has heard for a long time. Not that Zuko has the right to accuse an honourable Fire Nation citizen of lying. And he should want the spirit to believe Zhao. Right?
Right. Anyway. Something something knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Honoring the spirits that keep our sailors safe and bear us where we need to go.
"And your companion?" the owl asks. Wan Shi Tong, whose name literally means the guy who knows everything. And he can't hear what utter moosebullshit Zhao is spouting? Really?
"Him?" Zhao says. He pats Zuko's shoulder, and Zuko grits his teeth. "He's my assistant. A bit simple, but he can follow orders. I'll ensure he doesn't trouble you."
Or,
Zuko goes to the library. He ends up staying for three years.

Summary
The deck is empty.
The spirit is gone and so is the prince. Jee walks, and then runs, to the rail in the hope that the royal brat has just been swept overboard, but there's nothing. Nothing at all.
The Prince is lost. The General is going to be livid. The Fire Lord will ... well, that also won't be good. Between those two, Jee's probably just as dead as his charge probably is.
On the plus side, at least they won't have to go to the South Pole.
Or,
A spirit encounter leaves Zuko transformed into a dragon. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Summary
"The mutineers are secured, sir" Lieutenant Jee says. He addresses the words to Iroh, a not-subtle snub to the young prince that the child must notice. wild-eyed and frazzled, and only holding himself still with visible difficulty. "We have seven remaining unaffiliated crew members, of which we require six to man the ship at any one time. We can't continue like that."
The moment the door clicks shut, Zuko turns on his heel and strides to his futon. He throws himself down on it, covers his face with his arms and makes a sound like a half-strangled scream, then leaps to his feet and starts pacing again.
With all the neutral jing Iroh possesses, he makes himself stand and wait.
