Haunted Apartment AU.
Moving to a new town for a teaching job he never wanted, Louis (unknowingly) takes up residence in a recently restored hospital-turned-apartment building far enough away from the rest of civilization that, really, it shouldn’t be allowed. But it's cheap, he’s desperate, and his new neighbour is a stunning, brown haired, green eyed twenty something with legs for miles and a smile that makes Louis’ heart skip a beat... so maybe he isn't complaining too much. But after an awkward first meeting, Louis vows to avoid his neighbour at all costs until he's jolted awake at 2AM the following night to loud, frantic banging on his front door and a terrified man on the other side rambling about a ghostly presence in his apartment.

“I wasn't taking a sneaky pic.” Louis blurted out, the guy stood at one of the urinals taking a piss.
“You were.” The guy answered coolly. “I would've taken a pic with you if you'd just asked.”
“No I didn't want a pic with you.”
The guy turned his head, quirking his eyebrow sardonically. “No you're far too cool for that, you just wanted to violate my privacy.”
Louis squeezed his eyes shut.
“I'm sorry. Look..” He walked towards the guy flicking his phone out.
“Hey.” The guy hunched over, hiding his junk.
“Oh no no, I wasn't gonna take a pic. Fuck.” Louis threw his hands up, stopping in his tracks.
“Look I'm going to show you I'm deleting it.” Louis turned his phone and the pic disappeared.
“You looked familiar, I was going to send it to my friend and ask who you were, I'm sorry, dick move.” Louis sighed, smiling apologetically.
The guy zipped and walked to the basin.
“So you invade my privacy then insult my level of fame by pretending to not know who I am.” The guy was turned away from Louis.
“Look I'm...shit.” Louis inhaled noisily.
The guy turned, a grin spread over his face. “I'm fucking with you.” -

The sky is a dull grey, cloudy and dark. It reminds Harry of himself-he is a thunderstorm, filled with rain clouds and thunder and lightning, but he is endless, unbounded, unrestricted.
And Harry feels lighter than ever before-powerful and unstoppable-as he sits there, tied up and alone, in the dark.

Summary
Harry spends the afternoon trying to come up with some decent lyrics for a tune he’s had in mind forever. But anything he tries to sing either sounds too cheesy and cliché, or too pathetic.
Each time the pad of his finger plucks one of the strings it reminds him of Louis’ skin, taut and splintery, almost electric, as if beneath it Louis was made of wires and cables, things not fit to be exposed to the outside world.
Less than an hour later, he’s already given up. He starts to strum mindlessly, humming Oasis songs all mashed up together, mind inevitably drifting, wondering why Louis left before he woke up.
-AU where Louis has always felt stuck while Harry has a habit of running away.
