Summary
“You don’t talk about playing in major juniors,” Ilya said as he took a sip of his smoothie.
Shane froze. “It was average, nothing to really talk about.” That wasn’t really true. Shane had hated major juniors. He had closed the door on those memories for a reason, more than one reason actually. There was no need to rehash the worst three years of his hockey career. That was over, and Shane was fucking fine.
Wasn’t he?
Or
Hockey Canada did a shitty job of protecting a children in major juniors, but especially children of color, and Shane has trauma from that. Ilya might commit crimes over it.

Summary
Given Ilya and Shane's history, they should be able to handle a few weeks apart. So when Ilya was out with an injury and Shane needed to head back on the road, they would cope. Shane would be occupied with adjusting to his new team and Ilya would be occupied with twitter and the trials and tribulations of British Bakers.
And they would be just so normal about it. Obviously.

Summary
Ilya nodded, pink lips slightly parted as he stared expectantly at the screen. “Yes. Yes, please, sweetheart, I’ve been so mean. Help me, please.”
Help him, like whatever correction Shane doled out was something he needed. Like it was a kindness, something to be grateful for. Fuck, Shane was so hard. He liked this. Ilya needed help. Ilya was helpless.
Shane was going to help him.
