The Winter Soldier did not waste bullets, time, or death. Natasha told herself that and fingered her scar.
The Winter Soldier did not leave witnesses, but he had left her by that cliff outside of Odessa. Was Natasha an exception? Or did she not count as a witness? Had he looked at her and seen the same black button eyes reflected back at him, the on/off switch, the tick of clockwork?
Years later, Natasha watched the Soldier slam into the freeway concrete. The bullet holes in her abdomen had healed, and she knew this thing did not consider itself a person.
They were animate objects, both of them, useless in the witness stand. He hadn’t pulled the car transmission out, after all, hadn’t stripped the cell phone in the victim’s pocket, or shot up the rocks at the side of that road outside Odessa. He hadn’t shot her. He had left her there, breathing, and the Winter Soldier didn’t leave witnesses.
On cold nights, Natasha dreamed of ballerinas: porcelain, exquisite, their ribs jutting out stark under their skin.

Shiro looked up at the mention of Lance’s name, a coy smile playing at his lips as he popped a piece of broccoli into his mouth. Keith stared, utterly lost.
“Just seems like an interesting guy is all.” He ate with a cheeriness Keith couldn’t place, like he was up to something. But for the life of him Keith couldn’t figure out what it was, and he had his upcoming commissions to focus on, so he let it go and continued to eat. If he had to listen about Lance in order to keep eating his bagels, he resigned, it was a small price to pay.

Shiro’s talking with someone and they sound different than Allura. Curiosity gets the best of her and it makes Blue stop biting on Shiro’s finger to turn and meet his friend.
It’s a boy like Shiro but darker and softer. He has big blue eyes and Blue’s excited to see the color again after Shiro and Allura moved them from their room to another one with more space and white walls.
His name’s Lance. He says so himself as he leans down and waves at her happily.
Blue likes Lance. She shows him so by biting into his hand.
[Or the one where Blue is a puppy who get adopted by Lance through his friend's contacts and she get's a little jealous when she has to share Lance with someone else, especially the one with the mullet.]

She remembers Keith’s face from that day with a pleased happy smile as he eyed almost hungrily Lance’s neck and that's when she knew she had to save Lance from his vampire boyfriend.
