Hajime emerged from stasis to a version of himself he really wasn't ready to deal with. Somewhere inbetween destroyed and hopeful, he tries to put the pieces back together to see the person he had once been, and map out how exactly he could break that person into a thousand pieces in front of everyone.

The first thought he had when he awoke was—
…How boring.
A rather out of place thought considering what followed next was—
Fuck.
(Which, he considered, was a much more adequate response.)
That was the only conscious thought he had before every other sense was promptly deluged by an overwhelming heat.
Really, Hajime found that he had started getting a tad bit more used to life on the island (at least, as used as you can get when you're forced into a killing game by a sadistic, animatronic bear) so he would've preferred to wake up the same as he usually did: grumbling and gaining consciousness upon hearing that wretched morning announcement. He also would've preferred to not wake up absolutely drenched in sweat.
However, he was clearly not that fortunate.
OR an AU where Hajime gets the Despair Disease instead of Nagito and suffers the ensuing consequences (cue the hurt/comfort (hopefully)). This also leads to me rewriting Chapter 3 completely.
