Jamie hasn't seen Scotland in two years when he first meets the Doctor. Bound and sold as nothing more than a bedwarmer, the Doctor is to be his new owner, ending any hope of freedom.
But the Doctor insists he means no harm, and his ship offers a chance to travel the universe.
Jamie can either hate him, or start down the long road to trusting him.

“What do you want?” Clark asks, voice rough but steady.
Lex exhales, soft and deliberate. Like he’s been waiting for that question. “You always assume it’s about want - what I want, what you want. But this isn’t about want. This is about proof.”
He begins to pace now. "I had to know if it was possible. Not to kill you—at least, not yet. But to erase you. Quietly. Cleanly. No chaos, no martyrdom. Just... gone. Superman disappears, and the world doesn’t even flinch. It just keeps turning."
He stops again—farther away now, watching Clark from an angle. “I thought it would satisfy me.”
Clark meets his gaze, steady. “Has it?”
Lex tilts his head. Eyes narrowing, thoughtful.
“Not yet.”
Lex traps Clark in an isolated chamber, hidden within a pocket dimension where no one else can reach him—and the only person he ever sees is the man who put him there.

“How about a, ‘Thank you, Tyler?’” He’s grinning. “I’d take a ‘Gee, Tyler, what quick thinking you have.’ Or a ‘Wow, Tyler, I sure am grateful that you take care of those fast twitch muscle fibers. You do sprints?’”
