    Summary

“Do you…” she found herself starting again, before hesitating, because it was of no consequence to her, and Sandrone always followed logic more than anything else. But she was so curious, her gears halting and then erratically speeding up in a pattern she didn’t recognize. She needed to ask, if only to ebb this uneasy and vulnerable feeling away. “...Do you also stay in her room like you do with mine?”

Columbina stopped eating, surprised by the question. She had no idea about the suffocating feeling in Sandrone's chest that accompanied her as she waited for her answer in a bated breath. “No,” she eventually replied. “I only stay in your room, I feel most comfortable here with you.”

Sandrone was a clockwork doll, and Columbina was a moon goddess. Both were living solitary lives before they met, both unable to experience emotions the way ordinary humans could. Yet, somehow, their paths converged and the foundations of everything Sandrone thought she knew crumbled to the ground.

(or, how Sandrone and Columbina learned about love through the centuries.)

    Summary

“It’s not your fault that you don’t love me. But it’s mine that I still do.”

Two prodigies. One thesis. Seven years of sleepless nights, laughter, and everything left unsaid between equations and coffee stains.

They were supposed to celebrate — a small forced trip before graduation, a toast to brilliance and discovery. But between the sea breeze, half-finished beers, and all the words Herta never said, something else surfaces — something neither of them were ready to name.

Because how do you measure love when it was never part of the formula?

And when the hypothesis was you, failure was inevitable.

"You received first place, why are you unhappy Mei?"

Herta remarks as she stood across Ruan Mei, watching her clutch the trophy that was given to her by the judge as they both smile wryly for the photograph

"I know I should be happy, ecstatic even..."

    Not that I am happy,

    I should be.

    Summary

Those restless nights and numerous red bull cans in her trashcan must've caused temporary brain damage to Sandrone, because what she was seeing now was most definitely a hallucination.

"You have awoken me from my centuries of slumber, hence, I will serve your every wish." An eeriely calm voice came from the not–ghost figure, her lips curving as if this was funny for her. "My name is Columbina, Wish granter from the Moon."

"GET OUT OF MY ROOM TRESPASSER!!!"

    or,

After sneaking into the restricted area of an antique mechanical parts store, Sandrone accidentally finds a lamp aging back from the Archon war and lets curiosity gets the best of her.

    Summary

But Columbina was indescribably happy in the moments with Sandrone, which became less and less fleeting as the years passed by. What began as brief, cordial interactions caused only by the responsibilities of their work evolved into tea parties after hours, singing duets that Columbina assumed both roles for outside of Sandrone's door, her nap times in Sandrone's impossibly comforting bed, and much more. These moments were partially how Columbina knew something was wrong with Dottore, that ill-advised doctor, and encouraged her to desert from the Fatui.

She had bigger things to worry about than losing her pension and retirement plan.
