Is this a dream? He blinks.
Wei Ying is still there, staring back at him, and then he is shouting a jubilant “Lan Zhan!” as he bounds across the room. He almost knocks Lan Wangji over, a flurry of colours and movement. He automatically stretches out a hand to steady him.
“Wei Ying,” he says. He resists the urge to pinch himself. “You’re here.”
“Mn. I'm here.” Wei Ying dips into a curtsy. His smile is coy, teasing. “Lan Zhan, isn’t there something you need to ask me?”
Lan Wangji does pinch himself then. It hurt. He offers his hand, bows his head. “May I have this dance?”
(In which they meet again at a ballroom dance class, and Lan Xichen plays matchmaker.)
