Summary
Izuku had always been so preoccupied with affairs of the ant like humans tainting the earth.
He remembered reading a book with his mother in which the characters traveled dimensions. The book had explained that ants could only comprehend two dimensions.
Their small brains were so focused on moving forward in their hunt for food that it left no room for thoughts of a complex three dimensional world.
One day some cruel and obnoxious kid would decide to crush an ant with a single step and the ant's life would end just like that.
It would die without knowing how or why, unable to comprehend the gigantic foot that crushed it because it was stuck in a pitiful two dimensional existence.
As he lay dying on the cracked sidewalk outside his school, Izuku couldn't help but realize that he was as pitiful as the ant.
He could only comprehend the complexity of the world around him after he had allowed it to crush him.

After attempting to commit suicide and breaking both his legs jumping off the roof of Aldera Middle School, Izuku Midoriya finds himself stuck in a mental health hospital with all sorts of strange patients and staff.

Soft pasta met his eager tongue. Before his brain could process the texture of the creamy mushroom sauce, he found himself gasping with shock. The world seemed to blur around him as he was accosted with an overwhelming wave of dark, and suffocating emotions. The first wave was filled with pain, it flooded through his body and pooled within his heart. Wave after wave descended upon him and he found himself dizzy with despair, drowning in hopelessness, and weighed down with self hatred. His heart was pounding with suffocating thoughts of death and self inflicted pain, that wrapped around his throat in a noose of breathlessness. -

At first, Megumi considered shooting both of the strangers and getting it over with. They attacked them, so why would they deserve any mercy from him? Yet the thought of them not killing him when they had the chance ate away at his consciousness. He couldn't decide whether to trust the weeping guy's words.
Having put his finger on the gun's lever, he thought back on what Gojo said. Megumi started to wonder if he'd actually have the guts to pull the trigger. Maybe he didn't, and he was too much of a coward. Maybe he was just overthinking it – all it took was a little pressure, and he could find out.
The pink-haired guy cried out, barely comprehensible through his cracked lips. “Don't kill my brother, please.”

Fushiguro scoffed and rolled his eyes, effectively cutting Yuuji off. Yuuji shut his mouth with a slight pout, watching as Fushiguro shoved his hands into his pockets. He pursed his lips, glancing over Yuuji with disdain. “You.” He said cooly, and nothing more.
“Uh. Yes, me,” Yuuji replied dumbly.
