Eddie had frozen with his fingers halfway to his mouth. Smoke curled from his cigarette between them. He raised his eyebrows, then frowned, then bit his lip.
“I can-” Eddie said slowly, his face still rolling through several emotions without landing on one- “touch you?”

He misses Steve so much and it’s ridiculous, really, because a little over a year ago, they didn’t even fucking know each other - not beyond having passed another in the Hawkin’s High hallways - and now it’s like Steve’s the sun and Eddie’s entire existence revolves around his light. He’s like a moth drawn to a flame, fluttering ever closer only to be burned once he gets within reach.
Eddie's heart shatters the moment that Steve practically flees his bed. Unable to understand where he went wrong, or why he's never fucking good enough for the people he loves, Eddie isolates, hides away to nurse his broken heart, unable to see that he isn't the only one hurting.
