Summary
Words are but futile devices when it comes to actually speaking them, but for Leorio, he will try. For Leorio, he will do almost anything, and perhaps that scares him more than the theorized hole in his chest, but he owes Leorio at least this much. So, he opens his mouth, and with an apologetic sigh, he tries again. For Leorio.
“I’m... still here.” Kurapika whispers, hoping it will offer him something to hold on to when he wakes up to an empty bed come sunrise.

Summary
"Is he bothering you?" Bev asked, tossing a knowing look Richie's way—that he caught with a roll of his eyes—putting distance between them.
Eddie blinked. Yeah, he wanted to say, yeah, he's bothering me. It would've been easier if he had just said it, if he had just told her yes and let her save him from the nicknames and the jokes and the looks and all of it. Maybe, things would have gone differently had he simply said yes. Maybe, if he wasn't three shots in and a terrible lightweight, he would have. But he didn't. Because he looked at Richie, and when he looked at him—really looked—he decided that he didn't really mind being bothered. Not by Richie, anyway.
He sort of liked it.
or Eddie comes home to Chicago for the summer like he always does. He hangs out with Bill, watches bad movies with his dad, and lets Richie Tozier stick a hand in and mix it all up.

Summary
“Stop staring at me, creep.” Eddie grumbles, all of a sudden, bringing Richie back to present day, where he is laying beside Eddie and they are sharing each other’s space and listening to the lovelorn songs of The Cure, and Richie, though he hadn’t realized it until he got caught, is staring over at his best friend, thinking secret things that he wishes didn't have to be.
Stomach plummeting, Richie freezes. “M’not,” he lies after he thaws out, sounding dumb. He flexes his hands, pockets them. Doesn’t move his eyes from Eddie’s face.
Sighing, Eddie peeks one eye open. “Are too,” he argues, “you still are. Rude to stare, y’know,” he says, opening both eyes now as tilts his head up to meet Richie’s gaze, their faces a single breath apart.

Summary
“What?” Eddie snaps, feels immediately defensive. “Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?” Self consciously, he buries his nose into his comic book. Glares at Richie over the brim, frown tugging at the corners of his mouth.
He waits for Richie to take the bait, provide some half clever quip that will catapult them into some sort of argument, as is customary. But the taunt never comes. Instead, he reaches forward—with a look in his eyes that if Eddie didn’t know any better would let himself think is almost fond—takes a curl in between gentle fingers and says, “your hair’s longer,” in a tone so tender it is almost unrecognizable.

Summary
And despite telling Eddie he would, he doesn’t go home—at least not at first. He isn't sure what wills him to do it, but his bike takes him in the other direction, past the Barrens and to the street, right to the Kissing Bridge in all its vandalized glory. Slurs and poorly carved hearts and names he doesn’t recognize stare back at him as he digs into his jeans and pulls out his dad’s old pocketknife.

Summary
He has had this dream before.
It never starts quite the same, but the feeling it leaves in the pit of his stomach is consistent—warm, fluttery, ethereal—he’ll wake up short of breath, heartbeat stuttering against his ribcage—corollaries of dreams like this one and all those before it.
A name dances around in his head, faint like a whisper but nearly clear as day. A name that he knows is familiar, knows is more than that, a name that holds meaning just like the face before him and the feelings they yield. A name that Richie knows somewhere within is one he has spoken before, many a time.
It plays like a mantra within his soul, a chorus of a name he knows and has known. One he refuses to forget—
—Eddie.

Summary
This was Richie Tozier, his best friend, the Richie he had known for a little more than half his life, the Richie that lent his Pokémon cards to him after only knowing him for two days, the Richie that watched The Exorcist with him for the very first time and let Eddie cling to him through all the gory parts, that kept spare packs of Little Debbie’s Nutty Bars and S’mores Pop-tarts in his pantry just for him—it was Richie and then It Was Richie, and Eddie didn't even try to put up a fight. The battle was lost before it had even begun, and maybe Eddie didn’t want to fight anymore.

Summary
“You’re such an idiot,” Eddie tells Richie with a frown.
He snorts at that. “Says you. Your knees are all bloody. You fall off your bike or something?” He asks, and for a split second Eddie thinks he can hear genuine concern in his voice. He’s probably just imagining it, though, since Richie’s only ever concerned about two things: his dick, and the size of it.
“So what if I did?” Eddie bites back, feeling almost defensive. Richie should be the last person teasing him about falling off of a bike. Especially since Eddie watched him trip over his own foot less than a week ago!
or, Eddie takes a tumble and goes to Richie for help.

Summary
"Well, would you look at that," Richie crows, "we're bunkmates!"
Eddie blanches. “W-what?” This has got to be some sort of sick joke. This is not happening to him. No way. God, he’s gonna be sick.
Richie pats the bed situated directly over Eddie’s with an obnoxious grin on his face. “You and me. We’re bed buddies. Cabin chumps. Mattress mates. Pillow pals. Cool, huh?”
“Yeah.” Eddie swallows, hard. “Cool.”
or, Eddie applies to Camp Willow to be a camp counselor for the summer in order to avoid the wrath of his overbearing mother. The last thing he wants to do is to draw any attention to himself. But Richie's got other plans.

Summary
“Ho-ly fuck,” Richie whispers, and Eddie has never been so fucking scared. Not when he saw the leper, not when he confronted his mother about his pills, not when they fought It in the sewers. Never. Eddie screws his eyes shut and clutches at the material of his jeans.

Summary
"God, your shorts are very distracting. Like, really. You can’t walk around with legs like that and expect people not to be distracted,” Richie reasons, as if that’s a relevant point to make right this very second and gestures toward the guys legs, “I gave you the Pringles on accident. I didn’t know it was the last can. They are my last chance at survival, literally, because I forced Bev to walk over here and she kind of has this thing where can’t move when she’s high—it’s a little worrying actually, like she really cannot move—and now I don’t have them because you do and if you don’t give them to me my life is over.”
