"Who are you? What's your name?"
There was a flash of something across the boys face that left quicker than Shane could place it. The blonde opened and closed his mouth, and then opened it again.
"Ilya."
His voice was quiet, but strong. There was a strong slanting of the vowels revealing an accent Shane wasn't expecting.
"Ill-yeah?" Shane repeated, the name unfamiliar on his tongue.
"Ilya." The boy repeated.
"Ilya." Shane tried again.
The boy nodded, looking expectantly at the black haired boy.
"I'm Shane, how old are you?"
The boy-Ilya-didn't speak this time, instead his eyes roamed the field until he happened upon the discarded baseball and he wandered to go pick it up. Ilya began to toss it up in the air over and over again, not looking back at Shane.
___________Or childhood friends to lovers au with the boys drifting apart in adulthood only to reconnect again in the professional hockey world.
