The bell rings when he walks in. The man starts to turn around, alerted by the sound, and Beomgyu steels himself, grits his teeth and sets his shoulders and wills himself not to react.
Sharp eyebrows, dark eyes, small lips. His face is slimmer than it was back then, but that cupid’s bow is still there, still the same. His eyes are blank for a beat, and then recognition flashes across his face.
“Choi Beomgyu?” he breathes, standing from his chair. The wooden legs scrape across the hardwood floor, and Beomgyu’s lips twitch downwards.
“Hi, Soobin,” he says.

Summary

Perhaps, Beomgyu knew it was bound to happen; the clues hidden beneath lingering stares and the ghost of smiles, in the gentle touches and soft caresses, the invisible pull that draws Beomgyu to him like they’re two opposite poles of a magnet meant to fit perfectly, yet also feeling like they’re two of the same pole resisting each other, more on Beomgyu’s part, with how many questions from their friends were dodged, how any sense of a deeper conversation about the matter were quickly brushed off by feigned nonchalance, drifting the topic away to save one from the fear that clouds the very same feelings that started as a small fire but has been ignited stronger and stronger by the prettiest winds until it became a flame that was enough to scare and ignite fear— the art of falling.

"That's it!" he beams, and Soobin recoils a bit, worried looking as he pushes another spoonful of ice cream into his mouth - like Beomgyu had a habit of having bad ideas or something. Beomgyu points at him with flourish. "You're gonna go home with me, and we'll pretend you're my boyfriend!"
Or,
Beomgyu's family is expecting him to come home accompanied for the holidays this year, but Beomgyu doesn't exactly have anyone to bring. It only seems right to drag Soobin along, right?
