“Again,” Thrawn says, voice irritatingly even as he backs away from the training mat, circling the floor. It’s grating to see the evidence of Thrawn’s lack of strain– Samakro is pissed off, truly.
He grunts as he heaves himself up, scrubbing a hand over his face to hide his grimace. Stars, he’s drenched in sweat– his right knee aches with a throbbing insistence, his joints creaking as he forces himself back into a defensive position. Thrawn stands a few feet away, back straight and arms crossed, and Samakro could strangle him for being so infuriatingly unphased by two uninterrupted hours of sparring.

_________________The kiss was soft to the point of being chaste. When she pulled away he opened his eyes slowly, a hard line between his dark eyebrows.
“What was that for?” he asked quietly.
Hera started to speak but stopped. “I’m… I’m sorry,” she said. “I shouldn’t have done that.” She pulled away, but Kanan caught her by the hand.
“Are you just going to walk away?” he asked.
“Away from what?” The exasperation in her voice surprised even her.
After a pause he said, “This.”
Hera looked at their clasped hands instead of at his eyes. Her lekku swayed limply behind her back as she shook her head. “I don’t know what ‘this’ is.”
Kanan tightened his hand around hers faintly. His voice was still soft. “Do you want to give up before finding out?” he asked.
