Summary
Stede is an English Naval Captain who is tasked with bringing the legendary pirate Blackbeard to justice once and for all. Ed and Stede meet in the ensuing battle, and Ed brings the mortally-injured Stede back to his ship to save his life. When Stede finally awakes and discovers that most of his crew didn't survive, he's devastated and enraged at Blackbeard. Ed's fascination with Stede only grows over the following days. He wants Stede to like him, so he decides to pretend he's just "Ed," a member of Blackbeard's crew, keeping his true identity secret.

It’s been a very, very long time since he felt anything new and this is fun as fuck. Everything’s buzzing, he’s obsessed with this man, thrumming with feeling every moment they’re together. So Izzy and anyone else who might make a face like he’s finally lost his marbles can fuck the fuck off.
Ed has known since he was a child that he is not someone God intended to have fine things, and Stede is for sure a fine thing. But he has also known since he killed his father that a lot of things which are supposed to be up to God can be in his hands if he wants them enough.
So he’s gonna see where this goes. He’s gonna lean the fuck in.
