Summary
Immediately, Al shifts into his brother’s line of sight, leaning forward and reaching out a hand that Ed frantically latches onto. He’s trembling, sweat plastering his hair to his face, his eyes wide and searching as he grasps Al’s hand between both flesh and steel, hard enough that Al can see his knuckles turn white even in the dark room, illuminated only by the fragile moonbeams streaming in through the window.
“It’s okay, brother,” he says softly. “I’m here, I’m okay.” Ed is panting, his breaths tipping over each other as his gaze wavers, cracking, and Al repeats it over and over, watching the tension in his brother’s shoulders loosen just slightly with every iteration. In the corner of his vision, at the very edge of his helmet, he can see the moon slowly arc across the inky sky.
(Ed has a nightmare.)

The women of the world are outraged. The men of the world are baffled. No one can understand why Ilya Rozanov, whose abs have their own fan club, is wasting his time on ‘a piece of cardboard that wished to be turned into a real girl’ (this particular joke has 300k likes and counting).
Or: After a social media trend mocks Shane's sexting skills, he tries to improve them. It goes about as poorly as you'd expect.

Ed and Ling’s new relationship is so new—new enough that Ling doesn’t want to mention Greed, knowing what Ed’s endured with the other Homunculi. But sometimes Ed looks at him with this curious glance, a furrowed brow, a twitchy smile—Ling knows what he’s wondering, but he can’t make himself offer anything. It’s all so new.
Greed purrs in Ling’s mind, speak of the devil. Hey, Ling, he says amicably. Wouldn’t that Elric kid look so pretty on his knees for us?
Ling has an immediate, physiological reaction to that information, and practices a quiet breathing exercise as well as he can as Greed pushes the image to the front of Ling’s mind. Ed with his hair pulled back, looking up at Ling with eyes hopeful—maybe even wanton—as he waits for Ling’s word.
“Get out of my head,” Ling whispers, but it’s already out there, and he’s already seen it.

“Well, I would,” Ling says after a lengthy pause. “If I had any of those things. But since I don’t, I guess I’ll have to settle for a grumpy alchemist as my lunch date.”
Ed scoffs. “What, you’re telling me the emperor of Xing can’t even find himself a wife? Pathetic.”
