At twenty two, Dean Winchester is supposed to be focused on finishing nursing school, taking care of his younger brother and finding a mate. He's not supposed to be diagnosed with a hereditary cancer condition that will change his life forever.
Now, he's trying to manage the hectic schedule of his accelerated program and the constant threat hanging over his head of surgery, revision and more surgery. -

Summary
It’s easy to see how he turned out the way he has, the biblical musings (a kinder way to phrase what they would more honestly be called by any bystander, rants) of his father, the spite of many of the communities he cycled in and out of. Hell, even the relationships he had sustained with people who never truly knew how much their time together in turn sustained Dean. Filled his body like communion. Filled his mind with racing thoughts, guilt, lust, desire, everything the voice of his father permanently carved into the cells of his brain insisted were marks of the devil. Signs of the impurities within his soul that no amount of penance in the form of brutal beatings could ever wash him clean of.
Yeah, he’s sure any shrink worth their weight in salt could look at him and tell you exactly what happened in his childhood to bring him to where he is now. To twist him into the shape his father wanted, with aching knees, empty caverns in his heart that could never be truly filled. A perfect soldier.
After having been taken in, like Castiel's many wounded animals, broken clocks and scratched records Dean struggles with reconciling his past with his future and everything in between.

There isn't really a height difference between them, but the older man is thicker, heavier with age and muscle and time. He's broader and probably stronger, if not for the injury. Dean could outrun him, if he had to, but to where? His own front door?
He reaches out a hand to touch Mr. Novak's belt, presses a finger to the silver buckle there.

It's Summer in Sugar Run, Florida. John has disappeared to God knows where, and Dean is doing whatever he can to make ends meet and keep food on the table. Summary
Every time Dean looks in his rearview mirror, he sees Cas in the backseat, struggling to hold tears in his eyes. Dean takes a closer look, seeing a rather familiar expression in those eyes. When Dean was at his lowest, after being gripped tight and raised from perdition, all he could feel was guilt. He didn’t deserve to be saved. There were countless souls down there, any one of them deserved to be saved more than him. Upon another glance, Dean can see Cas’ arm hide back into his sleeve after he’s done dealing with a mosquito bite. Or, so Dean thinks.

Summary
Castiel works hard to shield Kelly from Lucifer so that she can safely bring her child into the world. Unfortunately, that means that he and Dean are currently separated from each other despite FINALLY doing something about the mutual feelings between them. In the meantime, Dean and Castiel find ways to stay satiated despite their physical distance. Thank Chuck for phones and prayers. Will Castiel and the Winchesters find a way to take Lucifer out for good? Was the choice to save Kelly's baby the right one? Will Cas and Dean finally get the chance to get freaky? All important questions.
Also, yes. Title IS based on the Troye Sivan song that just fits so well into this season.
