    Summary

When Hank sets out with a group of desperate men to slay the dragon of the mountains, he wants only for two things: for him and his son to make it out alive, and to be paid handsomely. Until Cole is beset with a fever.

There is help to be found at the roadside inn they stay at, but it comes with a strange price.
Connor wants to have a child. He needs a man to sire one, and he would prefer a stranger for the deed. There are secrets that he keeps tucked away in his chest and carved into his skin, and it would not do for a curious lover to find them out. Hank is a choice of opportunity.

A deal is struck. Purely transactional. But nothing is as easy in a world where dragons still roam and magic, once plentiful, has been almost erased by a king's prejudice.

    Summary

Twenty damn years ago, Hank started seeing these...these things. Ghosts, he'd guess you'd call them. He's been calling them "Blue Triangles" on account of the blue, glowing triangles they've all got over their hearts.

They don't talk, they don't act like people— Hell, they don't even register what's going on around them most of the time. They just float through life blissfully unaware of the world around them.

    Or, at least, they did.

Then something changed. One of 'em got... Well, it was like he just woke up.

That was when things started to get really weird.

Hank is sick with the worst flu he's ever known in his 53 years on Earth. When he doesn't show up to work, Connor discovers he's ill and comes prepared to aid him in any way he can. Granted, he doesn't need to go to the hospital.

    Summary

Connor's coughing again when he walks into the office.

It doesn't matter how long he's existed down here; he'll never get used to feeling perfectly adequate in one moment, then hearing the ding of the elevator and suddenly being overcome by a sore throat or a headache or, once, the hot, radiating pain of a recently stubbed toe.

    --

Connor's having a bad day, and for maybe the first time ever, Hank's too busy with work to give him any attention. Of course, Connor reacts completely rationally to this.

    Summary

The night was a bastard. Cold, relentless rain slicking the streets of Detroit into a shimmering, broken mirror. Inside the city, the revolution had either just ended or was just beginning—Connor wasn't sure which. I am a machine. I am free.* The final command from Amanda had been to shoot Markus. He hadn't. He’d chosen Hank. He’d chosen himself.

    And now he was here.

Standing on Lieutenant Hank Anderson’s porch, motionless in the pouring rain. Water plastered his hair to his forehead and dripped from his chin, but his internal temperature regulators kept him from feeling the chill.

From inside, a frantic scrabbling of claws on wood, then a booming bark. Sumo. The dog shoved his way past Hank’s legs, tail wagging so hard his whole body wriggled. A low, happy whine rumbled in his chest.

Hank watched the interaction, his jaw tight. He looked from his dog, who had instantly accepted this strange machine, to the android himself. He let out a long, shuddering sigh, the sound of a man who had finally run out of fight.

“Jesus, Connor…” Hank’s voice was rough, gravelly from drink and disuse. “You couldn’t have picked a worse night.”
