[It was snowing. The sky was grey and the world white as her skin paled to the cold.
Quynh stared up at the clouds. They were in Tibet, where marketplaces had suddenly become a lot livelier as the world discovered new fabrics and traded in metal chips. Andromache slept, laying her head in Quynh’s lap. She tied small braids into her hair. Andromache had always had such soft hair that fell so gently against her face, like snowfall.
The curve of her eyebrows, the hum of her breath, her warmth lingering on Quynh’s fingertips- she pressed her lips to Andromache’s forehead, removing her khatag from her neck to place it around Andromache’s.

Quynh stared at Andromache’s sleeping face, like nothing had changed. She removed her necklace and tied it back around Andromache’s neck, like it never should’ve been gone.
