    Summary

Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.

The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.

It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.

    There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

"Is that what they're callin' you now? Warboy?"

    "I suppose so, sir."

    ✯✯✯

The 1960s were a turbulent time. Vietnam raged overseas, and America simmered with unrest. But for Cassius Grant, life was supposed to be simpler: take over his late father's cattle ranch, keep his head down, and honor the legacy left behind.

He never expected war to come knocking on his front door. And he certainly didn't expect Wyatt Fortner.

As the draft looms and the world grows more dangerous, Cassius finds himself torn between duty, desire, and survival. In a time when love between two men is not just forbidden but dangerous, Cassius must navigate the unforgiving land he calls home, and the even harsher terrain of the battlefield.

All he wants is to make it out alive-alive enough to love and be loved in return.

    Summary

Shoko thinks she can almost hear the way Geto rolls his eyes. “I can do it myself, Satoru,” he murmurs, even as Shoko hears a soft shuffling noise. When she glances up, she finds Gojo holding Geto’s wrist in one hand and a long stretch of gauze in another—a ridiculously long piece, way more than necessary for the paper thin cut that decorates the inside of Geto’s hand, but she figures Gojo will probably ignore her even if she mentions it. His eyes remain glued to Geto’s hand even as he carefully begins wrapping the gauze around the small wound.

When she glances at Geto, she finds him staring at Gojo’s face. She’s not sure where else she was expecting him to look, given his track record. There’s an expression on his face that she can’t quite place. It’s something between wistfulness and adoration, something Shoko doesn’t want to put a name to. Something she can’t put a name to.

    Gross, Shoko thinks.

    Summary

“Oh,” his father says when he spots Suguru, still frozen by the door in the process of toeing his shoes off. “Didn’t see you there.”

“What are you doing?” Suguru finally asks. It’s a question he knows the answer to, but it leaves his mouth regardless. He watches as his father’s eyes flick from the cigarette, still lit in his hand, to Suguru, a pair of shoes in his hand. When he sighs softly, another wisp of gray leaves his mouth.

“Nothing.” The burning end is pressed into a silver ashtray that Suguru hadn’t even noticed. He can’t seem to pull his eyes away from the barely simmering embers among the gray ash.

“What does it feel like?” Suguru blurts out with a step forward. His father looks vaguely disconcerted by the question. Suguru feels rather disconcerted about it himself.

“Don’t worry about it,” comes the eventual response.

(“You wouldn’t like it, anyway,” he says.)
