Summary
Yeonjun thought that he was in love with Beomgyu, once. Back in college. So naive. Now he's almost thirty, and he knows that love comes with pain and sacrifice. That's why his wife has left and won't tell him when she's coming home, that's why his daughter who adores him accidentally destroys everything she touches.
Love is more raw and real and emotional than anything that Yeonjun ever felt with Beomgyu. He still misses him, though. Life was simple back then.
(Life becomes a smidge more complicated when the idea of divorce appears on the horizon, and when Yeonjun meets his daughter's brand-new preschool teacher, who has a very different outlook on what happened between them seven years ago.)

“You’re saying he's a Sentinel and I’m his Guide. You're saying we're soul-bonded.” Kai's voice is small and painfully uncertain.
Soobin had only heard about soul bonds between Sentinels and their Guides from romanticized stories and now that reality was sinking in, Kai’s declaration of the news seemed almost like a death bell. How funny that there was nothing romantic about being soul-bonded to his goddamn ex-boyfriend.
Kai lets out a dry laugh, laced with disbelief.
“I’m Choi Soobin’s Guide.”
