Summary
James was seventeen the first time he met Regulus Black.
It was the first day of the World Junior Championships in Saskatchewan. James had heard the name Regulus Black mentioned in many conversations. He was phenomenal. A brilliant skater and sharp defender against the puck. He was intelligent in the way he played, in a way many hockey players were not.
James was hesitant, though even he couldn’t deny his excitement to meet the young boy. Watch him skate. Watch him play with his own eyes.
It was an experience. Black was an experience.

“—Remus Lupin,” Sirius drawls. Lupin's face hardens and and Sirius can see the ghost of a grin on his mouth. The crowd is so fucking loud. This city is insane.
“Will you disappoint them, Lupin?”
Lupin’s gaze locks onto his, steady, unflinching, the brown of his eyes more pronounced than the green and Sirius feels it like a jolt—white-hot, raw, an impossible thrill crawling up his spine. Lupin seems utterly determined.
“Nope.”
They lean in for the face-off, and Sirius wishes he didn’t have the mouth guard in. He fucking would have loved to do something distracting and sexy with his mouth. He probably should have been focusing more on the puck and less on bothering Lupin, because he loses their first face-off. And that was something he’d never get back.
