Summary
Jakurai wasn’t one to shirk professional responsibility for frivolous personal events. Ramuda had said, once, that he acted like he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. “But how come your posture’s so good, Jakurai? That’s just unfair!”

But for that week, it sat heavy in his jacket, a silent accusation.
(Ichiro finds out that Jiro has been smoking, and isn't happy about it.)

Most of his patients take on a childlike quality at the doctor’s office. Something about being sick—being weak and vulnerable—makes them look to Jakurai like a child to his father. Ramuda, for all his cute looks, has no such tendency toward subservience.

Summary
It’d taken all his willpower to drag himself to the tattoo parlor on his last day off. The staff hadn’t said anything to his face, but he was sure they'd been giving him weird looks behind his back. After all, who’d want to see a gloomy guy like him with piercings like that?
