    Edit 2024: I'm back trying to finish this story! I've updated the earlier chapters a tiny bit in preparation for moving forward. See the note on chapter 32 for more details.

    All Hawke wanted to do was have a normal summer after finishing his freshman year of college: pick up a summer job, hang out with his friends, maybe go on a few dates. But his crazy Uncle Gamlen had finally done it. After falling for every underhanded snake oil sales pitch on the planet, he’d somehow found the real thing. And now Hawke was stuck with a magically summoned slave who hated his guts.

    Or a story in which Fenris finds freedom, happiness, and love.

    Part 1: Despite his terribly jaded past, Fenris must learn to trust.
    Part 2: Hawke has to find a way to help Fenris while also coming to terms with the losses in his past.

    At first that’s all anyone knew about it. An attack took out most of the leadership of the United Thedas Consortium, and then while the rest of the systems tried to pick up the pieces, the Inquisition stepped in.
