Al-Haitham wasn't very surprised when the door to his temporary office opened with more gusto than usual and Cyno stormed in, pushing Tobirama, in his Akademiya uniform, ahead of him. "Al-Haitham! What have you done?" Cyno scowled, "Impersonating a scholar is a crime."
"My Matra, it's fine. He's a scholar. He's just in the wrong uniform, but it was short notice. He's stuck here like Madam Faruzan was stuck inside the puzzle."
Cyno turned calculating within an instant. It only took him a few seconds to ask, "Is he stuck in a different time or a different place?"
Cyno truly was the gem of the Matra. His talents were wasted finding wayward scholars and criminals, but no one also had his tenacity and as firm of a moral compass, so Al-Haitham wasn't too sad about losing him to the Matra. He was best suited to protect Sumeru in any crisis.
"He's an outlander like the Traveller," Al-Haitham offered. -

"Aw, none of them this time," he sighed, acting put out, "my date's previous date dumped him for cheating on him, so he needed a last-second date. Dragged me all the way to Star just for this. I wouldn't date him under any circumstance," because he was a control freak and also a fellow superhero.
Fabray nodded sympathetically. "I wouldn't date a serial cheater either."
Oh, uh, well, that did explain it, without going into-- wait, was that a dig at that time he tried to break up Blaine and Kurt? She didn't look like she had a malicious thought in her head, but he definitely remembered that she used to be a cheerleader, they probably made comments like that all the time to insult someone, right?

But there’s a difference between introducing him as Rafayel, the painter who you’re contractually obligated to keep safe, and Rafayel, the guy you’ve been seeing for a while, or even Rafayel, your boyfriend. Just like there’s a difference between introducing him to Tara and Simone, who caught him idling outside headquarters on more than one occasion and were dying to know about the guy whose car you keep getting into after work, and bringing him along as a plus-one to your friend’s wedding.
You don’t bring just anyone to a wedding.

It is so captivating, satisfying even, to watch Rafayel's face quirk with curious doubt—then drain of all color—then flush the deepest red you’ve ever seen, all the way up to the tips of his ears. He clears his throat, sandwiching the photo in his hands, protecting it from prying eyes or wayward camera lenses, and his voice drops to a hiss. “What is this?”
“What does it look like?” You shrug, a curl falling into your eyes, and you playfully tuck it behind your ear. “It’s a boudoir photo. Duh.”
