Summary
“You’ve lost weight,” are the first words Reo says to him, a whole year since Seishiro has breathed the same air as him.
“That’s not very nice.” Seishiro’s mouth is on auto-pilot, brain still processing the sight of Reo right in front of him.
There’s Mikage Reo, synonymous with all that’s good in this world, at least to Seishiro. He looks different; his hair is longer and he’s much warier.
(He looks exactly how Seishiro remembers him.)
Or: Somehow, Seishiro gets Hanahaki, a year since he’s seen the only boy he’s ever loved. He handles it extremely well, which is to say, not at all.

Summary
Nagi shakes his head stubbornly. “You don’t even touch me anymore.”
Reo can’t help it. He laughs. It’s brittle, and all of a sudden, he hears the coldness Nagi’s been going on about. “What, did you want me to?”
Nagi tenses at whatever he sees on Reo's face. “I—” he starts quietly, then stops.
Reo says nothing at all.
In which Reo tries keeping his distance, and Nagi starts acting stranger than usual.

Summary
He doesn’t intend to, but he sulks, his lips curled into a tiny pout as he thinks about if Reo was here, sitting next to him, ruffling his hair and dishing small praises out even if he’s done nothing special. He sulks when he stares at his phone with no new notifications from his friend, even if he knows Reo is busy at the moment. It’s his fault; his heart had opened up unwillingly, and now he’s unsure how to handle these emotions by himself.
With a two-week break during the NEL, Reo flies back to his parent's complex to sort out a few business proposals. During that time, Nagi consoles feelings he's not used to with the help of his new friend.
In short: Nagi carries his Reo plushie around everywhere.

Summary
High school and high school with Reo had been two separate things. Looking backwards, the days of his first youth before meeting Reo were rather unclear, monotonous and distant in his mind, making him feel like an outsider to his own memories. After Reo everything had been vivid, distinct and focused and Nagi had never felt like closing his eyes again.
He wasn't exactly fond of Hakuho High, but he was glad he had been able to meet Reo there and one day, the both of them had been given the chance to walk its hallways one more time.

He will reveal what lies beneath it. One day, he will. One day, he will tear it all off, repay the wound with one of his own, one so painful Alexis will not be able to ignore it anymore. Alexis will leave him.
And Michael will have his answer: This far. No further.

"... Reo." Nagi says, breaking the silence they settled into for more than an hour now.
Reo turns away from his notebooks and looks behind him. Nagi is laying on Reo's bed and holding his phone up in the air. He's probably playing a rhythm game, based on the occasional tapping sounds he made.
"What are you doing?" Nagi adds as he lifts himself into a sitting position, not without a groan.
"I'm trying to understand to learn sign language." Reo answers, squinting back at his manual.
Reo is attempting to learn JSL, Nagi turns out to be quite helpful.

“Alex,” Michael says. His voice is quiet. He looks down, but he can’t see Alexis like this. The moon doesn’t shine. Everything’s drenched in darkness. “I fucking hate all these lies. I want to hear you say it. Now. Here.” His left hand hangs by his side, cold and hot at the same time, and he withstands the urge to ball it into a fist.
Alexis’ breath is the only thing visible in the half-light. It comes out in small puffs of foggy air.
Alexis’ behavior has been bizarre for weeks now. Michael thinks that there's only one possible explanation: He’s about to end things with Michael. But if there’s a possible explanation, that always means there’s an impossible explanation as well.
