Summary
It’s September of 2005, and Dean Winchester, in an attempt to outrun old mistakes and painful memories, finds himself in southern Kentucky on a wild goose chase. He’s completely certain this weird religious movement he’s “investigating” is a hoax, despite the miraculous healings people report, and he’ll be back on the road in a day or two. Things are looking up when he meets Cas, an awkward (and gorgeous) graduate student who’s actually doing honest-to-god research into the local tent revival meetings. When that research takes a weird and personal turn, Dean’s left to face two very serious realities: one, this may be a real case after all, and two, he’s fallen way harder for Cas than he should ever have let himself.

Summary
You would think that growing up driving from one corner of the country to another you’d never set foot in the same place twice, but it turns out to be the furthest thing from true. Patterns repeat themselves. There are a finite number of highways, after all, a limit to the towns and the people that need you and the quickest route from A to B.

Summary
Some days, Castiel wonders if he should never have healed Dean at all.
Because now Dean has nothing to wrestle with, no physical pain to nurse, no slowly-mending fractured ribs to remind him that his brother and his sacrifice were real, that Sam Winchester saved the world and that Dean was a part of that fight. He's a blank slate, and it's Castiel's fault. Without pain to ground him, center him, do whatever it is that pain has done for Dean Winchester his entire life, he erodes, steadily and quietly, until Castiel no longer recognizes him, and has no one to blame for his loss but himself.
* * *
In which they stopped the Apocalypse, but Dean is steadily falling apart after losing his brother, and Castiel is doing everything in his power to try to get them back on a path to normal.

Summary
The briefing was simple: ‘Stand guard over the Michael Sword until the battle is ready to commence. Await further instructions.’
Castiel doesn’t mind working security duty; he was briefed shortly after the initial salvation of the Sword from the pit, and again before taking up his position. He knows what to do. However, it’s easy to forget that the green room isn’t real. Time moves differently there, the space ever-changing to make a prison of mountains, cathedrals, salt flats, orchards, and whatever Castiel was led to believe about Heaven’s greatest weapon—Dean Winchester is something entirely unexpected.

Summary
The last plane into McMurdo before the six-month winter brings a new face, an astronomer on transfer from one of the inland observatories. Truthfully, Dean doesn't know shit about neutrino particles; he's just the guy who gets paid to move the equipment from A to B and tries to keep it from getting broken and/or frozen solid. Castiel Novak's awkward, endearing smile is an additional bonus. However, the relentless blue night is brewing coldly for a storm, and it's starting to look like Dean and Castiel might be the only ones left out on the ice.

Summary
Dean is fine. The way he sees it, things are simple. He had a house and a family and food in his stomach, and now he doesn't. And yeah, that's a downer, but he's not going to let that stop him from being fine, because he's in control of the situation. He definitely doesn't need anyone to save him. And it's not like the weird guy with the nice butt from down the road is the knight-in-shining-armor type, anyway.
