It didn’t take a detective to know that the dark, faded stain on the back of the photo was blood – Robert’s own blood, by the sounds of it – the photo creased, and cracked, a mark of how many times he’d folded, and unfolded it over the years.

Summary
He pushes Robert up against the car, his hands running down Robert’s torso to slip under his jumper, squeezing at the skin of his waist. Robert moans into his mouth, his grip on Aaron’s face tightening so he can bring him closer. “We should,” he breathes between kisses, “we should take this somewhere more private.” He tries to push Aaron off of him, clearly aiming towards the portacabin.
Fooling around in there is a tempting thought, a classic RobertandAaron affair move if there ever was one. But Aaron has something else in mind, something he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about since the idea came to him. He pushes back against Robert, guiding him towards the doors to the back seat. “Get in,” he orders, the way Robert’s eyes darken making his already hardening cock twitch in his trousers.
Kev buys Robert a new car. Robert and Aaron fuck in it.

Robert looks up at him with wide eyes, pupils blown deep and black. He’s panting, thoroughly debauched with his ripped shirt hanging down one arm and exposing the deep ridge of his collarbone, the thick muscle of his shoulder arching away from his neck. He’s gorgeous, he’s Aaron’s.
“Y’know Kev got one thing right,” he says, breathless and heart racing as he scans his eyes over Robert’s face before dropping them down to his chest and further still. The sight of his smooth, toned torso making him throb the way it always does, always has, for 11 years. “You are fit.”

“Stay,” he says again once he’s sitting on Robert’s lap. Looking down into green eyes that have been the backdrop to Aaron’s dreams since he was 22. Robert’s hands fall on his hips like they are pulled by a force. Something outside of the two of them puppetering. Like they were made to fit there. Regardless of how much both of them change.
“Aaron-” Aaron shakes his head because Robert’s face hasn’t changed. And he can feel the bile rising up his throat again.
“I can’t be here. Alone. I can’t Rob, please” He says the words like they were punched out of him. A single breath that barely holds sound by the end. “I need to-” Aaron shakes his head and it’s so immediately a bad idea. Closes his eyes for a second until the room stops spinning “I need to take him off these walls Robert. This couch. My bed.”

Aaron scratches his eyebrow. He's stalling, unsure if he should tell Robert or not. Then he decides to go for it. "Do you know what date it is?"
Robert turns his head to look at him. "Of course. October fifth." The moment he speaks it out loud, he realises. "October fifth," he repeats. "Our wedding day."
"Our second wedding day," Aaron corrects him, not without a tiny smirk tugging on the corners of his mouth.
"Our second wedding day," Robert concedes, smiling back. "I still don't get what you were-"
And then, again, Aaron sees the exact moment when the penny drops. Robert's entire hairline shifts when his eyebrows jump up on his forehead. "What, in there?!" he almost yells, pointing at the chaos in the container.———

Robert’s heart shuddered to an almighty stop in his chest. Aaron was hardly a passive character, in bed, but he tended to be happy to let Robert take the lead, never pushing too far. Robert wasn’t sure if that was because of the lingering ghost of their affair – or if it was because Aaron was just horrendously perceptive, and had realised that Robert wasn’t entirely comfortable with being out of control. Maybe it was all of the above.
