It had been a month since everything had happened.
Since Mark had given Haechan everything he had asked for—or at least, everything he could.
For now, it was enough.
The words, the ring, the gentle promises whispered against his skin. He had let himself believe in them, let himself drown in the delusion that this time would be different.
But doubt clung to him like a shadow. Had he given in too easily? Had he let himself be placated by pretty words and soft gestures?
He wasn’t sure.
All he knew was that this was the most Mark had ever given him—the closest thing to forever he had ever been promised.
And so he held onto it with trembling hands, ignoring the voice in the back of his head that whispered he was only delaying the inevitable.

Summary
Haechan did not have many major regrets in his life.
He regrets rushing home from school to his cousin’s house to play video games when he was 13, colliding into a brick wall when he ran across the street corner and giving himself a permanently crooked ring finger.
He regrets the way he had teased Jeno’s ridiculous rainbow-dyed highlights when they had first debuted, playing into his insecurities for an easy laugh.
He regrets not paying attention in school, not because he didn’t care, but because exhaustion made it impossible to sit through science lessons with his eyes even half-open.
None of those things compared to the regret that swallowed him whole now.
Because most of all, Haechan regrets falling in love with Mark.

Just let me stay here, with you and our baby, and let me keep my memories,” he begs and pleads.
“Alright no, no,” Brock says urgently. “I’m not– I’m not like that anymore,” he tries to say, but god fucking damn it, he doesn’t know if it’s true. “I’m not going to…,” he starts and then he gives up entirely. “Is there any way I get you to leave?” he asks, resigned.
"No".

They have an odd stare-off where neither party’s sure exactly what they’re being stubborn about but isn’t prepared to just give in. Shit like that keeps happening. Bucky thinks that he’s being granted a sneak peek into what domesticity with Steve Rogers will be like.
It's guaranteed to drive him insane within a week, and there’s probably something very wrong with him for wanting it anyway.
“Come sit with me,” Bucky says, needlessly aggressive considering the content of his words. “I have a broken leg.”
“You have a sprained ankle,” Steve corrects, but he obediently makes his way to Bucky. “You do have two cracked ribs.”
“I’m suffering.”
“I don’t doubt that.”
Steve doesn’t make Bucky get any more direct than that. His kisses are the best medicine. Doctors should bottle that shit, they’d make a killing, but then Bucky would be forced to make some very literal killings.
“Kinda like you like this,” Steve says once they come up for air. “You’re very sweet.”
“I threatened to throw juice at your head literally five minutes ago.”
“Sweet,” Steve insists.
