Summary
He had sharp golden eyes, a strong jaw and a small scar that cut through his left eyebrow that somehow made him more interesting to look at. His face was smudged with streaks of grease, his hair was slightly mussed, and he was looking at Akaashi with an expression that could only be described as scathing.
Bordering on annoyed.
Akaashi felt his stomach twist tighter.
Perhaps, just this once, Hajime was right. Maybe this was a mistake.
In a small town that never forgets, the Bokuto and Iwaizumi families have spent years pretending the past is settled by never speaking of it at all. Akaashi Keiji knows better than to ask questions, and he knows better than to fall for Bokuto Koutarou, a mechanic with grease-stained hands, a crooked smile, and a past that still makes people whisper.
But some things keep finding each other anyway.

Summary
The apple left Akaashi’s hand with startling force.
Thunk.
It hit the wall hard enough to split the apple, pieces dropping to the hardwood floor with a wet sound. The impact echoed through the house like a gunshot.
Silence.
“Holy shit,” Komi breathed, eyes wide. “That was—”
Another apple sailed through the air. Konoha ducked with a yelp.
“Evacuate! He’s armed!” came Bokuto’s whisper-yell. He stepped in as Akaashi reached for another fruit, placing himself between the sleeping boy and the counter. He held his hands up placatingly, like he was approaching a wild animal. “Your kitchen privileges are officially revoked, buddy.”

Summary
Akaashi made himself a promise.
I will not break down in front of Bokuto Koutarou.
He was a professional. He’d worked hard to build a reputation as one of the most sought-after sports photographers in Japan, known for capturing not just athleticism, but raw, unfiltered emotion. This job wouldn’t change that. He could handle one volleyball player.
Even if that specific volleyball player happened to be the man Akaashi had been harboring an embarrassing crush on for the better part of two years.

Summary
“I am having fun.” Akaashi’s tone was monotonous.
Bokuto didn’t look convinced. “You’re drinking by yourself with a look that says you’re judging everyone’s conversations.”
Akaashi blinked. He had been doing that, actually. “I’m not judging. I’m observing.”
“You’re always observing,” Bokuto laughed, the sound of it causing Akaashi’s heart to do something complicated in his chest. “Do you ever just… not think?”
“That’s what the alcohol is for.” Akaashi lifted his cup for emphasis.
Something changed in Bokuto’s expression, a flicker of surprise followed by something else. Curiosity or concern, maybe. “Yeah? Is it working?”

Summary
Bokuto’s grinning, he’s shimmering, as he always does after a kiss.
“Alright now?” Bokuto checks in again earnestly.
“Mhmm.” Akaashi dips his head once. He’s less overwhelmed. “Let’s go beat Kuroo-san’s ass into the ground."
Or, four snap shots into when Akaashi and Bokuto are overwhelmed (in a good way) with each other and life.
