“Rhaenyra—fuck…we…” Alicent struggles to speak as Rhaenyra grinds her hand into her, her fingers running over the length of her, tracing the outline of her with almost comical delicacy, “someone could see.”
Her protest is half-hearted and weak, and they both know she doesn’t particularly mean it. She and Alicent have fucked in wilder places. But Rhaenyra is somewhat glad of her words, as it gives her the opportunity to lean in, press a searing kiss to her lover’s lips, and whisper—
“Let them.”
—into Alicent’s ear.
It draws a whine from the brunette, one that has Rhaenyra’s mouth drying and her hips bucking, and so she doubles down.
“Let them see. Let them know that you are mine and mine only. Let them watch you squirm on my fingers, fall apart for me.” Alicent groans and Rhaenyra feels feral. “Let the whole of the Realm see who you belong to. You’re mine, Alicent.” She snarls. “You’re mine.”

“That’s this,” Laudna says, already a little breathless. “You. Whatever you like.”
But Imogen is shaking her head. “No,” she says, brushing a kiss against Laudna’s jaw that makes her eyes flutter shut. Not what you think I’ll like. Not what you think I want to do. What you want me to do to you, Laud. Just for you. She leans down close to Laudna’s lips, and Laudna strains up breathlessly to try to meet her. “You’re gonna ask me for it, or I’m not gonna do it. Okay?”

It's almost lonely, this new calm in Imogen's head. Usually at the market she'd be treated to Laudna's light, musical inner dialogue about the ripeness of fruits or the bread Zhudanna might like best, but instead it's just quiet. All Imogen gets is what Laudna shows on her face, and the words she says out loud. Words like you don't have to listen in to get my thoughts. I'll always share them willingly. You can just ask.
There's only one thing Imogen wants to ask right now. It's blaring in Imogen's mind like a temple bell, so loudly that even with the circlet she's sure Laudna must be able to hear it. And Laudna is looking at her so sweetly. Every moment they've been parted has made this all-consuming feeling worse, harder to pack away, and this could be her last chance to say it. Her only chance.
She has to say it. She has to ask.
"Can I kiss you?"
