“Okay, seriously, what is going on with you?” Mira demands. Rumi catches a glimpse of her expression, eyes narrowed, like she’s confused rather than hurt. “This is totally, like, I don’t know, Rumi! This isn’t you. Listen, I get that things are tough, but what the hell is this?”
“It’s—”
“Don’t lie to me, Rumi,” Mira warns. “How are we meant to seal the honmoon if you’re too busy doing...whatever this is? You’re tearing yourself apart. And—what the hell was all of that? Do you seriously expect me to just, I don’t know, ignore all of that? Are you serious?”
She’s going to kill you. You should let her.
“Mira, it’s—”
“Don’t lie to me, Rumi,” Mira hisses out, her confusion turning to hurt; Rumi can see the shift in her eyes, the way she flinches back as soon as the words leave her mouth. “Please. What’s going on with you?”

Summary
Rumi had learned a long time ago that her body was… more resilient than the average human. She wasn't invincible. Her body still bent and broke and popped and bled in an irritatingly human way sometimes. However she tended to heal at a supernatural rate. A broken arm healed in a matter of minutes. A gash closed over in a handful of seconds. The honmoon helped to speed up the healing of its hunters, but not to this level. Not to this extreme.
Still, the first time Rumi gets hit by a bus she is immensely grateful that 1) it is her and not one of her girls that was hit, 2) her demon healing has already started to repair her snapped spine as she careens through the air and 3) that Zoey and Mira are still in the alley way and won't have to watch this happen.

When Rumi and Mira started dating, Zoey was so happy for them. Promised herself she would never make it weird, that she would always protect their friendship, that she would be supportive of them (that she would never ask "Why not me?"). And when Mira somehow got pregnant, Zoey was overjoyed, and promised herself she would be the best Aunt and the best best friend any of them could ask for. And she didn't think about what that would mean for the rest of her life. Or whether she would ever fall in love (again). Or whether she would ever get to be a mom.
Until she did.

"You're completely sure about this Rumi?"
Mira's asking, and her asking makes Rumi feel better, safe - but agitated.
"Yeah," Rumi says, "Yeah, I'm sure," and tries to smile at them. Tries to not hide her nervousness. "Just nervous," she says, for good measure, so she can't.
Mira looks at her, and Rumi really is sure so - Mira reaches out and strokes her fingers down her cheek. Rumi catches her hand and pushes her face into it. Their eyes meet and Mira nods almost imperceptibly - then flushes slightly. She looks breathtakingly pretty.
Zoey literally headbutts in, bumping into Rumi's other arm and worming her way under it until it's draped around her. She grins, sweet and reassuring, and excited.
"No reason to be nervous Rumi," she says, "you've never bombed a performance in your life."
