Buck could never have predicted that today was going to go like this.
There are always so many predictions of what a shift is going to look like – most of the time they spend the day on medical calls and dealing with people who make dumb decisions but today was something that he would never have predicted.
But here he is laying on what feels like broken rocks, bleeding out from a rebar impaled in his stomach and the only thing that he can focus on is the arm sticking out under a large bit of concrete, limp and lifeless.
or, a near death experience that leads to love confessions over the radios.

“While they are life’s greatest joy, Evan and I do not want to have kids,” Tommy responds to something Karen had said before taking a sip of his beer.
Buck felt his face flush at the announcement, he quickly scanned the yard and was thankful that Chris and Denny were engrossed in some card game to overhear this conversation. He briefly makes eye contact with Eddie, who is giving him a wounded look through the smoke of the grill, and wishes that a hole would open up and take him whole, at least then he will not have to contend with the L-word thing.
Buck gets the feeling things are moving way too fast with Tommy when he realizes they want different things out of life.
