Summary
Faced with no other options other than letting is father die in the castle's dungeon, Vil stared into the creature's dark eyes. “Take me, instead!”
The creature looked at him, then looked at his father. “You would do that? You would give up everything for your father?” The beast felt like he was caught in a snowstorm, freezing in the cold as those amethyst eyes bore holes into his skull.
“If I do…” Vil didn’t tear his gaze away. “Will you let my father go free?”
The beast looked at the ground, considering. If the man were to stay, he would be staying of his own choice. He knew what this meant to the others living at the castle, what it meant to him to be given the chance to be free.
This man’s words, though. Did he really mean them? He would give up his entire life for his family? Someone like that…
“Yes, but you have to stay here forever.”
Someone like that, he could see himself falling for.

Summary
Yuu was always alone. They had survived in the Briar Valley for years on their own, only to be uprooted by a mysterious force that threatens all the kingdoms. Survival becomes more and more difficult, as all of the nearby villagers are picked off and subjugated. In a dire moment of truth, Yuu discovers they have a unique heritage, and is accidentally thrust into the world of thorns.
On Maleficent's order, Yuu is forced to enroll in Night Raven College, the only stronghold outside of the Thorn Castle that has held their own. The students are miserable, constantly growing in population and separated from their families, but Yuu finds solace in their friends... and a baby dragon.
