Summary
Haiji cups his hands around his mouth. “Took you long enough!”
Kakeru runs up to him. It’s a bad idea taking on steep, uneven ground after his sedentary journey, but he doesn’t think of doing it. His legs get the best of him, because any further second keeping him from Haiji is a year in disguise.
He stands at the top, his breathing heavy, none of it puffing out. The only clouds are in the sky, a blue unlike anything he has ever been under. There is Haiji, throwing his arms around Kakeru. Nothing he hasn’t done before. And then there is Kakeru’s heart, straining to keep itself tethered within his chest and not fall into Haiji’s hands.

Kakeru takes in a deep breath and raises his head. He looks at him and the dark blue eyes Haiji loves so much are red-rimmed and wet, though no tears have fallen yet. “My sister. She died. She and her husband both,” he says in a dead voice. “Car accident.”
“Oh, Kakeru...” Haiji doesn’t know what to say. Kakeru’s relationship with his family is strained, almost as much as his own, and so Haiji hasn’t met either his parents or his older sister more than three or four times in the five years they’ve been together, and they didn’t even appear at their wedding. Still, the news is shocking, and it has obviously affected him badly.
Before he can make up his mind, however, Kakeru continues. “And...” he says, then hesitates. “They had—have a kid. He’s seven. No family on his father’s side, and my parents,” he grimaces, “they don’t want anything to do with him. The social worker—she asked if I was willing to take him in, or he’ll enter the system.”
Or: In which Kakeru and Haiji are married and, after a tragedy, become Kageyama's dads.

"Um," Kakeru says, gesturing vaguely at his face, "Haiji-san, you… on your nose…"
"My nose?" Haiji asks. He touches it, and looks vastly amused when it comes away covered in whipped cream. "I'm making an amazing impression today."
Kakeru is about to apologize again—but the words lodge in his throat like sticky whipped cream when Haiji pops his finger in his mouth and sucks it clean with a quiet little moan of delight.
"God," he sighs, as Kakeru stands there rooted in horrified lust, "that's so bad for me but it tastes so good."
"IhavetogonowHaiji-san," Kakeru practically yells at him, and flees.

Kakeru has a problem. Namely, one Kiyose Haiji and the way he looks in a tailored business suit—and the fact that he's Kakeru's boss.
Okay… two problems.

Summary
Kakeru knows he’s awkward, poor at social cues (getting better, though), tragically unfunny, has trouble keeping his emotions in check. His teammates all know that about him, too. They accept all those things about him, which is great, and he’s forever thankful.
But who could actually manage to develop a crush on that combination of dysfunction?
He looks at Haiji. Haiji beams back at him, and Kakeru swallows, looking away.

Haiji thinks someone in Aotake might have a crush on Kakeru. Kakeru has absolutely no idea who it could be.
