The Long Game is written entirely from Hermione's POV. It's a character study in which I attempt to dissect her ambitiousness, her fears around loving and being loved, and how those two things conflict with each other as she becomes more entangled with Draco and, subsequently, his friends, family and the family business. This is a grown up, morally complex Hermione navigating the world of ruthless office politics in an alternate modern universe resembling the corporate backdrops of TV shows like Succession and Industry.

How exactly do two people fall out of love when:
1) distance, famously known to make the heart grow fonder, does exactly that,
2) a part-pixie witch is hell-bent on playing matchmaker, and
3) they smell like each other's Amortentia?Spoiler alert: They don't.

Hermione Granger’s wedding ceremony is gorgeous. It’s the social event of the season. Everyone is there - their families, closest friends, farthest friends, workplace acquaintances, celebrities, reporters for every newspaper and magazine. The groom’s mother is beaming proudly.
If anyone notices the bride disappearing for nearly half an hour after the ceremony and returning looking harried with her makeup smudged, nobody comments on it.
