But maybe that roughness is just superficial. Because whenever Kit finds himself looking at Ty’s fingers, all he can see is how graceful they appear. He couldn’t possibly believe they would be harsh in any way. In fact, it would probably feel quite gentle to be touched by him. Kit wondered if his own skin could act as a surface Ty could slide his fingers over, if his skin would feel soothing to Ty, like the coarse surface of a wooden table or the frosted texture of the sea glass Ty always fiddled with. If Kit would feel the harsh edges of the scars on Ty’s long fingers when he touched him.
And if Ty shoved a finger into Kit’s mouth, how far could it reach?
During their roadtrip in Europe, Kit, Ty and Livvy go on a mission to Northern Sweden in order to find Ragnor Fell. Immediately upon arrival, they bump into an unexpected guest.
What was supposed to be a relaxing little quest to find the green skinned warlock suddenly turns into something neither of the boys were ready for at all. Also, for some godforsaken reason, Ty can’t stop looking at Kit’s mouth. (Kit doesn’t know how to be normal about it.)

“I thought you said there was a rush,” he said as Ty pushed a cup into his hands. Kit looked down at it in confusion, but took it. “What’s this?”
“Your shift drink had gotten cold,” Ty said, eyes fixed on Kit’s collarbone, away from his face. “I made you a new one.”
Kit works as a barista in his dad’s coffee shop, and he wants nothing more than to quit. The fact that his hot colleague drags him into some conspiracy about their regular customer doesn’t help his problem at all– especially when he doesn’t know how to say no to him.

“I’m also mad at you,” Ty whispered to him, still grasping at the collar tightly. “You’re not the only one angry.” His voice was smaller, a little lilt of desperation in it. It forced a shudder through Kit’s body, sliding down his spine like a snake and piercing through his stomach, crashing aggressively to the floor. He swallowed. How did this happen?
Kit’s on a mission with his family to lift a curse in the Blackthorn Hall, but is taken by surprise when Ty suddenly appears in the kitchen with his twin sister’s ghost. Since their last interaction ended with him getting his heart broken, he intends to avoid them at any cost. It becomes really hard when Livvy mysteriously disappears, and Ty comes to Kit for help.
Turns out that avoiding your own unresolved feelings towards your old crush isn’t as simple as it sounds. Kit learns this the hard way.

Kit walked ahead of him. Ty reached out instinctively so as not to lose him, and laid a hand on his back, between his shoulder blades. He thought he might have felt Kit stiffen — but he relaxed instantly, and kept walking. If the music had been less pounding, and the ruins less crowded, Ty would have let go - but he didn't. He didn't want to.

Things have always changed for Kit. He has been moving around his whole life, never in one place. People never lingered, never cared enough to overcome the hardships of distance, and subconsciously, Kit has been preparing himself for the fact that Ty and Livvy would do the same. To his surprise, they haven’t, and summers with the Blackthorns became somewhat of a constant in his life instead.

“You know,” an amused voice says, and Ty freezes, slowly looking up to meet irresistible blue eyes, “I make my coffee hot, but you may just be hotter.”
From his left, there’s the sound of Livvy choking and dropping a spoon.
He flushes, gritting his teeth, “What would you like to order?”
“A cup of you, to go, please, no sugar, you’re sweet enough,” Kit smirks, and Livvy’s giggling now, not even trying to hide it, “And I would also appreciate if you stopped stalking my coffee shop. It just isn’t good to keep meeting like that.”
Ty narrows his eyes, “This war isn’t over until I say it’s over, you truant. One coffee, black like your soul, coming up.”
