“Nothing gets past Chuuya, hm~? It’s because you’ve known me for so long.” Dazai does his best not to let any honest reactions get in the way of his words, but it‘s requiring a lot not to contort his face with pain. He doesn’t need to be told; he knows that he’s failed because suicide is supposed to be painless, and this situation is anything but.

Or: Dazai has a habit of playing his mental health off as a joke, and he prefers to keep it that way. When Chuuya almost doesn't make it in time to save him from his latest suicide scheme, they both know that something has to change. However, with so many thoughts still left unsaid between the two of them, that's easier said than done.

Summary
It‘s an unspoken rule in the Port Mafia that the head of the organization has to dine alone. Disobeying that rule should have severe consequences, as it is a direct violation of the chain of command. Yet Dazai is looking at him with cold eyes that leave no room for discussion, eyes that let him know that disobeying him will be worse.

MAJOR CHAPTER 101 SPOILER!

Fyodor Dostoevsky dying- in the grand scheme of things, that‘s a good thing, something just as desirable as it is necessary.
Yet his chest tightens at the thought that Chuuya will be gone along with him, but somehow he isn’t going into cardiac arrest, and instead his heart keeps beating evenly through the pain. He realizes with horror that this type of pain is a deeply paralyzing sense of dread, one that he hasn’t felt this strongly since the leader of Mimic showed interest in Odasaku, a dread of the kind that scrapes away at the remnants of his conscience and begs him to act on his feelings, just once in this pathetic life.

Or: Dazai must choose between letting his enemy drown and saving the one whom he loves. (This is my prediction and way of coping with chapter 101. This one shows Dazai's intentions in a more benevolent light.)

Viktor could not comprehend that line of thinking, once. When Jayce used the Hexcore to save him, resentment collected inside his heart.
Why couldn't Jayce have just let him die? Why did he save him? Why did he break his promise?
Now he stands with Jayce bleeding out in his arms, his body pierced by a Noxian spear during the war, fading in and out of consciousness-- and it is at that moment that Viktor finally understands.
Why does anyone commit acts others deem unspeakable?
For love.
"I've got you. I'm not going to let you go. Just stay with me. Keep your eyes on me, focus on my voice. I won't let you die."
