The lump of blankets wracks itself with another coughing fit, and unthinking of his fear, Akaza reaches out. (To what? Help? Soothe? Save? He is a demon. Such concepts are anathema. And yet, it's Kyojuro.
Akaza was reaching out to him before he knew his name.)

Or: Akaza seeks out Kyojuro only to find him sick. It is the first time he's seen him like this (yet, it's so familiar.)

Summary
Akaza wakes up the next morning with Kyojuro on the other end of the bed, and the kitten, who had initially kept a respectable distance at the end of the bed, having traitorously migrated so he’s curled right in the tangle of Kyojuro’s arms.
Akaza gapes at the sight in front of him for a few moments, not sure if he should be shocked, amused, or betrayed.
Or: Akaza and Kyojuro cat-sit for two weeks. Akaza's not jealous, but he's not not jealous.

Summary
Akaza’s fight with the Flame Hashira is over. This is a fact as sure as the morning sunrise which looms over Akaza, as sure as his fist piercing Kyojuro’s broad, strong chest. He is angry that Kyojuro is keeping him in place, but he’s furious to know that this is the conclusion.
Killing the Flame Hashira is a victory, Akaza was sent for it. Killing Kyojuro is a failure, Akaza wants him as a demon.
It’s not an acceptable outcome.

Summary
Kyojuro wakes up with no memory of his past life and a stranger by his bedside that calls himself Akaza. He tells Kyojuro two things: firstly, Kyojuro had been in a life-threatening accident, and secondly, Kyojuro is now a demon.
Akaza is all quiet devotion and unconditional care, but as pieces of their past begin to come to light, Kyojuro learns that lies told in benevolence are still lies, and that there is always more room for doubt.

Summary
They were hybrids.
Dog-human hybrids, to be exact. Some had ears drooping low against their heads, others curled in on themselves with their tails wrapped tight around their legs. A few had muzzles, some had human faces with only subtle traits—ears, tails, claws. Most were thin. Too thin. Their eyes followed people cautiously, flinching whenever someone stopped in front of their cage.
Giyu felt sick.
