Ashvalla Lavellan wasn't supposed to fall in love with the distrustful Commander of the Inquisition. She was supposed to find her sister - now the Herald of Andraste - in a village full of Shems, ensure her safety, and do everything necessary to ensure she remained alive. But being possessed by a spirit of Love meant she could not hide from her unwanted feelings, nor could she escape the reality of her situation; no matter how much she wished otherwise, a possessed mage and a former Templar could never be.
If only that could stop her heart from beating faster every time she was near him.

You nod. Figures. Turning, you start to walk away again when he says, "Sorry."
You stiffen, look at him. He's looking at you now, managed to tear his eyes away from the shelf.
"Sorry," he says again, with such an honesty to it. "Old habits."
Three years since you last spoke, the rumour around town is that Shane's sober now. When it proves to be true, and he wants to be friends, old wounds are reopened and old habits die hard.

“Are you listening to me, Cullen—?”
He was pinned between two forces. The lyrium and her. Stretched taught between them to the point where he could feel his sinews straining. One force had to give, the lyrium or her—
He surged from his chair, taking the choice from one victor, giving it to the other.
One addiction after all was far kinder, far gentler.
“Can I touch you?” was out of him before he could preface it, arrange it to be better-worded.

Or Cullen goes through lyrium withdrawal and uses "servicing" Inquisitor Lavellan as a way to cope.
